Zambia’s Minister for Technology and Science, Felix Mutati1 and Ville Tavio, Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development have launched an online Entrepreneurship Learning for the Youth of Zambia programme.

The implementers of the programme are the Finnish technology company Nokia who have partnered with Airtel Networks Zambia Plc on the provision of data bundles.
Both companies are committed to societal development and have joined efforts to empower the youth of Zambia to help develop their knowledge mind-set and entrepreneurial skills. The 8-week Entrepreneurship Learning programme is designed for 100 participants and aims to promote innovative thinking and entrepreneurship.
Fostering a culture of innovation and accelerate entrepreneurship
“As the Ministry of Technology and Science1 we are honored to collaborate with the Embassy of Finland, Nokia and Airtel Zambia in advancing digital skills development for Zambian youth.
“By leveraging ICTÂ driven upskilling and reskilling initiatives1 we aim to enhance productivity foster a culture of innovation1 and accelerate entrepreneurship.
“Digital transformation is at the heart of economic growth1 and empowering young people with the necessary technological competencies will position Zambia at the forefront of Africa’s digital revolution,’ says Mutati.
Learning model emphasizes value of real and relevant work-life partners
The course is based on Finnish technical and vocational education and training (TVET) outcomes. The learning model emphasizes the importance of real and relevant work-life partners ensuring students gain practical experience through a ‘learning at work’ approach.
Omnia Education Partnership Ltd (OEP) from Finland delivers the training of the programme and it includes on line assessment. In addition1 there will be gatherings and community events at entrepreneurial hubs. All participants who pass the assessment will receive a downloadable certificate.

“Moreover1 the program effectively demonstrates how Finnish expertise in education and educational technology can support Zambia’s efforts to digitalize its education system and foster entrepreneurial thinking,’ emphasizes Tavio.
Nokia manages the programme, trainers, content and certification while Airtel Zambia will provide connectivity for the 100 participants. Airtel Zambia will provide data while the Ministry of Technology and Science will select the 100 students.
