Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN) is to partner with the Government of Bayelsa State to develop the ICT innovation ecosystem in the oil rich state and assist young Bayelsans in acquiring tech skills and building careers for the new global knowledge economy.
The team of young innovators led by the president of YIN, Mr. Abu Andrew and Head Business of Development Engr. Jeffery Udende recently met with Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa to firm up a capacity development plans for young people in Bayelsa State.
The YIN team also included the Head of Public Partnership, Mr. James Gana, Â Head of Startup Development, Mr. Hilary Suka, and Head of Policy for Young Innovators, Mr. Â Christain Ogbubda.
YIN was founded in 2013 from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Knowledge Hub for young Innovators initiative domiciled in the Corporate Strategy and Research Department. Over the years NITDA has supported all initiatives of YIN and has provided YIN various platforms to showcase their activities and products.
Bayelsa Technology Forum
In Bayelsa, as part of a bouquet of capacity and innovation development plans, YIN will help the state to organize the Bayelsa Technology Forum designed to bring together technology experts, enthusiasts and facilitators targeting the training of 400 youths in Bayelsa on digital skills and entrepreneurship.

Also, the framework will include the setup of the Bayelsa State Incubation Hub in partnership with the state government.
Governor Dickson who expressed commitment to the plans said the development of ICT in the state will serve as a catalyst for the overall socio-economic advancement of the state beyond crude oil. He affirmed his belief that wealth creation through the application of ICT is a critical element of skill acquisition and retooling of both the state with the national economy.

He pledged his commitment to the success of the Bayelsa technology ecosystem, and assured the YIN team that his government will ensure the objectives of the partnership are fully realized. Governor Dickson assures that he will personally support all activities that will lead to job creation and self-reliant of young people in Bayelsa State.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary to State Government, Mr Kemela Okara, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown and other government functionaries who welcomed the YIN team to Yenagoa.
