WIOCC, Africa’s leading carriers’ carrier, has entered into a strategic partnership with Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB), a premier digital infrastructure and shared services provider in Nigeria. The collaboration aims to enhance high-speed internet connectivity across the country. The deal will advance digital inclusion and support Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

By leveraging WIOCC’s expansive wholesale fibre network and GBB’s national fibre footprint, the partnership is set to improve scalability. Addditionally, it will scale operational efficiency, and service delivery for businesses and government institutions. A key focus is bridging the digital divide by expanding broadband access to underserved regions. Equally strategic, it will foster partnerships with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to accelerate Nigeria’s digital economy.

The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony at Galaxy Backbone’s corporate headquarters in Abuja. The event featured Darren Bedford, Group Chief Development Officer at WIOCC, and Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone. Both leaders emphasized the strategic alignment of their organizations in driving digital transformation and delivering world-class connectivity solutions.
