With the support of Deloitte as Knowledge Partner, the AfricaTech Awards spotlight promising young companies tackling some of Africa’s biggest economic, environmental, and societal challenges. The awards focus on three transformative categories: GreenTech, HealthTech, and E-commerce & FinTech.
This year’s edition received 492 high-quality applications from 56 African countries. Startups were assessed based on the impact of their solutions, quality of innovation, potential for scalability, and the strength of their teams and business models.
Nigeria Leads the Way in African Innovation
For the second consecutive year, Nigeria emerged as the most represented country, submitting 110 applications—a 70% increase from the previous year. Kenya and Tunisia followed in second and third place, respectively, reflecting the growing vibrancy of the African startup ecosystem.
Notably, 50% of the finalist startups were founded or co-founded by women, with the HealthTech category showcasing the highest number of female-led innovations.
“We’re proud to see such exceptional talent and visionary solutions coming from across Africa,” said François Bitouzet, Managing Director of Viva Technology. “This initiative reflects our mission to amplify diverse voices in tech and position Africa at the forefront of global innovation.”
