The Nigeria Teen Cyber Festival 3.0: ngTeenCyberFest 2024 holds this Thursday, October 3 in Abuja. The main theme is ‘From Ideas to Impact: Fostering Innovation in the Age of AI’. Other sub-themes include: ‘Nigerian Youth and Digital Innovation: Building Tomorrow’s Tech Leaders; and Digital Innovations and the Creative Economy.’
The onsite conference and virtual interaction holds inside OLUMAWU School, Wuse II. A major highlight of the gathering is the unveiling of the 2024 Nigerian Teen Cyber Awareness Report. The report features Forward Notes by experts including the National Commissioner/CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr. Vincent Olatunji; and President/CEO of Digital Bridge Institute, Mr. Daser David.

“The 2024 Teen Cyber Awareness Report provides a timely progress report on our nation’s journey into the digital economy. This is a space filled with tremendous benefits but also inherent risks, particularly for our youth,” said Dr. Olatunji.
“With the increasing reliance on digital platforms, the vulnerability of minor’s data has become a pressing concern. The continued efforts by C-C PRO to protect children from the negative use of the internet are commendable,” said Mr. David.
The ngTeenCyberFest 2024 is organised by C-C Pro (Child Protection Initiative Against Cyber Crime). The Abuja based organisation is promoting healthy interaction of young people and technology.
In addition, the event is featuring a Hackathon Contest managed for C-C PRO by nHub, Northern Nigeria’s first innovation hub.
Stakeholders’ support
Event is backed by National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), NDPC, UNESCO, and UNICCON Group of Companies. Others are Hotspot Network, Cedarview Limited, Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN),Technology Development for Poverty Alleviation Initiative (TD4PAI), Eagles 102.3 FM, and IT Edge News.Africa.The list also includes Pzafaama Helping Hand Foundation and Smartweb, Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NASITDEA), and Kaduna State Government.
The event is hosting hundreds of students from secondary and higher education centres of learning. The young participants are expected to be educated on series of issues all centered on protecting young people in the cyberspace. They include cybersecurity, privacy and themes seeking to also ignite innovations. Also, there will be exchange of ideas among young people to foster a healthy online culture.
The ngTeenCyberFest 2024 is a collaborative effort of C-C Pro, Baobab Think Limited and Qitech.
Report delves into diverse digital behaviors
“This 2024 Nigerian Teen Cyber Awareness Report builds on that of 2023. It further delves into the diverse digital behaviors, preferences, and habits exhibited by young Nigerians ranging from 12-22 years age bracket. The outcomes are revealing. They shed light on the virtual landscape young people navigate daily,” said Ms. Delmwa Gogwim, Team Lead, ngTeenCyberfest2024 and Co- Founder of C-C Pro.
The ngTeenCyberfest2024 is building on the success of the past editions hosted in Jos, Plateau state and Abuja. The event has traditonally enjoyed the support of public and private organisations. They include Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT) and National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC). Others are Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), and the Africa Digital Economy Forum (ADEF).
