Chinese military owns Huawei

The British government has completely exited China’s Huawei Technologies from its 5G market – a decision that is a major win for Washington DC in its push against the Chinese company reputedly leading the 5G race.

The Trump administration had in May further imposed restrictions on Huawei computer chips as relations between the U.K. and China worsen over China’s imposition of a new security law in Hong Kong, a former British colony.

London’s decision this week ruled that all UK’s mobile providers are banned from buying new Huawei 5G equipment after 31 December. They must also remove all the Huawei’s 5G kit from their networks by 2027.

For Huawei, it’s a major blow that will further shrink its 5G presence in Europe, the US major economic and political ally.

Trump has ruled Huawei a national security threat.

One international media quoted the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as saying: “the tide is turning against Huawei as citizens around the world are waking up to the danger of the Chinese Communist Party’s surveillance state.”

The US has accused Huawei of being owned by the Chinese military and also of implanting surveillance devises in its 5G technology. The Chinese government and Huawei have denied the allegation.
