Thomas Festerling, CEO of Greentec Capital in Germany; Achumboro Ataande, Angel Investor and CEO of Ataande and Advisors, USA; Mia von Koschitzky-Kimani, Managing Partner of Future Africa, Nigeria; and Rodrique Msechu, CEO of Serengeti Angels, Tanzania, will headline the Angel Investors Panel on day one of the 11th Angel Fair Africa (AFA) at Nairobi’s TRIFIC North Tower in Two Rivers. Moderated by Abigail Komu of the Nairobi Business Angel Network (NaiBAN), this panel will dive into their collective experiences and unique perspectives on investing in African startups.

An entrepreneurs’ panel will also take the stage, featuring Isidore Kpotufe of Rivia, Chisepo Chirwa of Bosso, Hilda Moraa of Pezesha, and Chidi Okpala of Asante Group—all prominent founders who have successfully raised funds amid the “funding winter” of recent years. Moderated by Micheline Ntiru of Delta40, these founders will discuss the challenges and strategies that helped them secure investments during one of the most difficult fundraising climates.
New this year, AFA is introducing a “Transitions Panel,” featuring founders who have moved from one venture to another. Panelists will candidly discuss lessons learned from their previous startups—whether successful or not—and offer personal insights on the founder’s journey, including crucial topics like mental health.
“We are thrilled to welcome these exceptional investors and founders to AFA@11. I’m particularly excited about the transitions panel; it’s always inspiring to hear how founders are evolving and what they’ve learned,” said Winnie Kimathi, AFA Lead at Chanzo Capital.
Nick Vilelle, founding member of NaiBAN, added, “The funding winter has presented significant challenges, but AFA is revitalizing the scene, and we’re proud to partner for this year’s event in Kenya’s Silicon Savannah.”
Diana Gichaga of Private Equity Support also shared her enthusiasm: “Facilitating connections between founders and investors in the AFA deal room is an honor and a crucial step towards advancing African entrepreneurship.”
AFA 2024 promises to be an impactful event, empowering both investors and entrepreneurs to foster growth and collaboration across the continent.
