The NASENI-Portland CNG Conversion and Training Centre, established in partnership with Portland Gas Limited, is a cutting-edge facility designed to convert fossil fuel vehicles to CNG, a cleaner and more cost-effective alternative. The center is equipped with the latest technology and staffed by highly trained professionals to ensure efficient and safe vehicle conversions.
The center will also offer comprehensive training programs for technicians, engineers, and other stakeholders, aiming to build local expertise in CNG technology and promote the adoption of green energy solutions across Nigeria.
Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, highlighted the center’s significance during pre-launch activities. He emphasized that the establishment of the NASENI-Portland Gas Reverse Engineering Centre represents a transformative moment for Nigeria’s energy sector. “At NASENI, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and providing affordable, eco-friendly fuel alternatives to Nigerians,” Halilu stated.
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce vehicular emissions, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment. Moreover, the adoption of CNG will provide economic benefits by lowering fuel costs for consumers and creating new job opportunities in Nigeria’s green energy sector.
Halilu extended an invitation to all stakeholders, including vehicle owners and industry professionals, to utilize the services and training opportunities available at the new center. “Together, we can drive forward a greener, more sustainable future for Nigeria,” he added.
Aligned with the Presidential directive on CNG (PCNGi), NASENI has demonstrated notable proficiency in automotive reverse engineering, successfully assembling CNG kits locally. The NASENI team of engineers and technicians have skillfully put together a comprehensive CNG sequential kit, including essential components such as:
- Pressure Regulator
- Petrol Solenoid Valve with manual override switch
- On-Off valve and refueling connector
- Control Module/Change-over Switch
- CNG level Indicator (LED Indicator)
- Gas Air Mixer
- CNG cylinder with valve
- Vapor bag & bracket
- Petrol hose
- Low-pressure gas hose
- Ignition advance processor
- Wire harness
- #NRV in petrol return line
The commissioning of this facility marks a significant step forward in Nigeria’s journey towards sustainable energy solutions and technological innovation.
