To address Nigeria’s knowledge gaps, particularly in the north, Startup Arewa hub is promoting a new Edtech product that offers quality affordable learning contents to individuals – mAcademy.
The mAcademy, led by Mrs. Hadiza Abba Gana, is also one of the successful products that has been deployed by MTN and is on the MTN mPulse platform as well.
“The Startup Arewa hub has partnered with a couple of firms doing exciting things in the tech space, a number of fascinating products are in store but a particular product that stands out is mAcademy,” said founder of the Startup Arewa initiative, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Jega.
He said the collaboration with Gana’s mAcademy will spur interest in learning activities and help change our schools impact knowledge.
His words: “Currently we have partnered with them to develop the entire primary and secondary school curriculum in animation and video formats. This will be released to the entire nation for free and we believe will change the face of education.
“The mAcademy’s www.mylearningacademy.com has probably been the most successful EdTech platform both in terms of revenue and reach but the founders, especially Hadiza, have been off the [media] radar and that’s why many don’t know about them. If you recall there was a talk by Dike Chukwumerije that has gone viral, many don’t know it was at the re-launch of mAcademy that it happened.
“This happens to be our number one priority for the year, getting this out for those that are economically disadvantaged to also have a chance to be educated. These lessons will be available for offline learning on the mAcademy app and we intend to make it accessible for free. We are working to disrupt learning in Nigeria for the better and we strongly encourage the government to support us in this mission.”
