In a statement issued this week, SEYSF described the move as a landmark achievement and a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide, fostering youth empowerment, and accelerating technological development in the South East.
“We wholeheartedly commend the Minister and DBI leadership for their proactive steps in ensuring the immediate take-off of the Enugu campus. This initiative reflects visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and a deep understanding of the needs of our region,” the Forum stated.
DBI Enugu Campus: A Catalyst for Digital Inclusion in the East
The Enugu Campus of the Digital Bridge Institute is strategically designed to serve as a regional hub for digital education, skills development, and capacity building, targeting young people across the entire South East.
With a curriculum focused on cutting-edge digital skills, the institution will equip students and professionals with the tools to thrive in Nigeria’s and Africa’s fast-evolving digital economy.
“This development is a beacon of hope and a catalyst for innovation. It will empower our youths, create job opportunities, and strengthen the region’s position in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey,” SEYSF added.
Call for Collaboration: Public-Private Synergy Needed
The Forum called on key stakeholders—including the South East Development Commission, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, state governments, traditional institutions, and the private sector—to collaborate and support the sustainability and long-term success of the DBI Enugu Campus.
“We urge all relevant actors to come on board and ensure this initiative delivers maximum impact. The digital future of the South East depends on our collective action and shared responsibility,” the Forum emphasized.
Digital Future in Focus
The launch of the DBI Enugu Campus comes at a time when the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy is rolling out multiple initiatives to upskill Nigeria’s youth, boost ICT literacy, and support digital entrepreneurship nationwide.
Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani has consistently reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive innovation, ensuring that all regions of Nigeria—especially historically underserved areas—have equal access to the benefits of the digital economy.
