Storonsky is the visionary founder behind fintech giant Revolut and QuantumLight, a quantitative venture capital and growth equity firm. The guide is designed to help tech startup founders boost team performance and foster growth by implementing data-driven, scalable talent management practices.

Storonsky emphasised the importance of the resource, stating, “We’ve distilled years of learning into this tool, which I wish I had during Revolut’s early days. It’s an essential guide for the unicorn founders of tomorrow.”

QuantumLight’s playbook simplifies the complex task of maintaining high performance and tracking employee progress in rapidly growing startups. The guide advocates treating performance as a science. It  offers clear metrics for competencies and cultural fit to minimize bias and ensure structured career paths for employees. It also highlights the use of exponential bonuses for top performers. In addition, it advocates for formation of a specialized performance management team, separate from HR.

An out-of-the-box solution for startups

A key feature of the playbook is its step-by-step approach, which founders can easily implement. The best practices outlined in the guide are also reinforced by Revolut’s newly launched company management platform, Revolut People.  This provides an out-of-the-box solution for startups to operationalise these methods.

QuantumLight’s CEO, Ilya Kondrashov, noted the playbook’s significance: “Building a high-performance environment is essential yet complex. Founders need sound advice, and this guide offers exactly that from someone who has built a global business.”

The playbook’s approach has been successfully replicated by over 100 startups. Led by Revolut alumni, the startups have collectively raised over $2.2 billion in funding. QuantumLight portfolio companies like Ghost, a B2B platform, and Ben, a global employee benefits platform, have already benefited from implementing these performance management strategies.
