The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has advised the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to leverage deployment of emerging technologies to promote the country’s education sector.
Trends in emerging technology are helping to improve the delivery of educational services and helping practitioners in the field to achieve effectiveness of communication between teachers and students. 

Globaly, schools are increasingly adopting emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality, to remodel how today’s classroom works, said Pantami while recieving the management of TETFUND, led by the Executive Secretary, Sunday S.T. Echono, on a recent working visit to his office in Abuja.

Emerging technologies are redefining education, said Panatmi whether Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, 3D Printing, Robotics, Adaptive Learning Algorithms or Asynchronous Learning and Microlearning  as well as Live Streaming school to school, school to expert, remote teaching and learning.

The minister said the deployment of blockchain technology in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions will help preserve data integrity and promote efficiency in the administration of certificates, transcripts, records, among others.

TETFUND seeking collaboration

According to Echono, the TETFUND team is seeking to explore collaboration with the ministry in the areas of internet for education, broadband penetration; subsidized data for educational contents; data hosting; digitalization of thesis and facilitation of hybrid education
