Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, will tomorrow, in Abuja, commission Nigeria’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Centre.
The centre further pushes the country’s agenda to have ready skills for the fourth industrial revolution (4IR),and enable the country young people be active players in emerging technologies.
The Abuja new centre is providing a preparatory ground for research and collaboration on AI and robotics as Nigeria gears up its digital economy.
The new centre located at Wuye , FCT, Abuja, is a product of the ministry and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The commissioning ceremony kicks off Friday, 13th November, 2020 by 11:00am with the Dr. Pantami as special guest/chief host.
The new fully equipped centre features Digital Innovation Lab; Makerspace and Fablab Infrastructure; Printed Circuit Board Facilities; 3D Printer; Abuja MIT Reap office; and a Co-working space for startups and trainings.
All the features are designed to address the growing need for emerging technologies and the changing workplace as AI increasingly gains grounds replacing millions of human hands to make work faster and more efficient with lower overheads. Thousands of factories are already being manned by robots worldwide making the robotics industry one of the fastest growing with millions of factory jobs expected to go the way of robots by 2025.
