Growth of Nigerian digital economy rests on the continuous health and expansion of the country’s startup ecosystem, said Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, in Abuja this week at the National Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Policy Stakeholders Review Workshop.
While reiterating the importance of promoting digital innovation and digital entrepreneurship among young people, the minister said startups are the nest to foster innovation and entrepreneurship which are necessary for digital economy to thrive.
Expressing confidence in the ability of Nigerian startups to advance government agenda for digital economy, he assured that government will continuously provide the right policy and enabling environment to ensure that the startup ecosystem is sustainable and productive.
He said the ecosystem is “creative and highly innovative, blessed with the capabilities of coming up with home grown digital solutions that will address challenges in society.”
The review workshop with the theme: Developing an Enabling Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Policy was designed promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship as part of the overall vision of a Digital Nigeria in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS).
