The Osun State government’s consultant on telecommunications infrastructure, Mr. Rotimi George Taylor, has called on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to sanction a leading telecommunications company over unpaid dues amounting to more than N900 million owed to the state government.

Taylor, who also serves as the chairman of Global Transactions Limited, made this appeal while addressing journalists in Osogbo. He expressed concern that the company, which recently donated N1 billion to the Nigerian Government’s Food Support Programme and provided 4,600 digital devices for distribution to schools, has yet to fulfill its statutory obligations to Osun State.
“Imagine a company that laid over 270 kilometers of cables in Osun State and refused to pay statutory taxes being allowed to make such a donation without first settling its dues. This would never be tolerated elsewhere,” Taylor stated.
He emphasized that operating in the state without complying with relevant laws and regulations, while accumulating significant unpaid bills, sets a dangerous precedent. Taylor urged the Nigerian government to ensure that companies meet their constitutional obligations before being allowed to engage in high-profile donations or meetings with government leaders.
