The Corporate Affairs Commission’s (CAC) online operation which began in March has recorded about 4,585 registrations of businesses to underscore a steady growth in shift to digital processing of company’s registration in Nigeria.
This is happening even as the CAC has reiterated its commitment to government’s ease of doing business policy by offering a convenient process for registering businesses with improved online services.
The Acting Registrar-General of the commission, Lady Azuka Azinge at the commission’s quarterly customers’ forum in Lagos recently assured that the CAC remains dedicated to ease business registration in Nigeria as part of the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s economy.
“The 4,585 registrations were achieved between March 26 and March 29 and those registrations cut across all businesses, from private to limited liability. This computer generated records shows that the 24 hours business registration is real.
“In order to further ease business registration, the commission has extended its working hours to 7.00pm Monday-Friday in our Lagos(Alausa and Island offices) as well as six of its other offices strategically located in each of the geo-political zones,” said Azinge.
The CAC is responsible for legally incorporating business and non-business entities.
“CAC aligns with Federal Government’s agenda of boosting the growth of the economy through increased economic activities, employment creation, infrastructure provision and making Nigeria one of the world’s top investment destinations.
“The commission embarked on several reforms aimed at easing business registration in the country and the strategic reforms includes decentralisation of its operations and deployment of the Company Registration Portal (CRP).
“Others include integration of the Company Registration Portal (CRP) to the Stamp Duty Portal of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to further ease the process of company registration.
“The goal is to ensure that every Nigerian has access to online registration especially the micro, small and medium enterprises, to enable more businesses to come into the formal sector with all the attendant benefits,” Azinge said.
