According to TradingPlatforms data analysis, 5G is now an important part of fixed wireless. In the past six months, the number of service providers providing 5G FWA has risen from 57 to 75, a 30% jump. Moreover, around 20% of service providers monetize FWA with speed-based tariff plans.

Service providers’ use of FWA solutions has increased more than two-fold in the last three years. Around 87% of service providers that have gone live with 5G also provide an FWA plan. This is a higher adoption rate for FWA than observed among service providers who have yet to start 5G (62%).
TradingPlatform’s financial analyst Edith Reads says, “This growth is driven by customer demand for 5G speeds and reliability. 5G offers speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G, and with FWA, there is no need for a physical connection to the home or business, meaning 5G service can be installed quickly and easily. ”
Replacement for DSL
FWA is also expected to become more cost-effective due to the epidemic, especially when compared to traditional fixed services such as DSL, cable, and fiber. Small 5G antennas are used in 5G FWA to provide high-speed wireless internet access to companies and residences. With extremely low latency, it is ideal for online gaming, streaming videos, and other real-time applications.
Customers get the speeds they crave without having to lay down extensive and expensive infrastructure. 5G FWA is a win-win for both service providers and customers.
FWA Popularity is Global
Governments are helping fuel FWA’s growth through programs and subsidies as they scramble to close their digital divides. 5G FWA is the most promising technology for delivering high-speed broadband to rural and underserved areas.
