President Muhammadu Buhari has sent 43 ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening. The new ministers will form his new cabinet. Among them is the erudite Director General/CEO of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
Pantami who was appointed director general of the NITDA about three years ago joins the likes of Babatunde Fashola, Rauf Aregbesola, Godswill Akpabio, Rotimi Amaechi, Dr Chris Ngige, Timipre Sylva, Ogbonnaya Onu, Hadi Sirika, and Lai Mohammed – all former governors and ministers.
Pantami gained recognition for repositioning the government IT agency to live up to its mandate as an IT clearinghouse. Since assuming office, NITDA has helped to ensure full compliance to IT Procurement laws by all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
Pantami, a scholar and lecturer in IT before his appointment hails from Gombe State in north east Nigeria. He has gained numerous recognition for ensuring that NITDA enforced compliance of MDAs to the Local content policy on IT procurement..
