NITDA to support AMAC with ICT training

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) will be supporting the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) to provide ICT training and capacity building for indigenes of the council.

The Director General of NITDA. Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, gave the assurance this week in Abuja while receiving officials of AMAC on courtesy visit to the regulatory agency.  

Led by the its Chairman, Hon Abdullah Adamu Candido, the AMAC team commended NITDA for its intervention schemes and requested for the agency’s assistance in the area of tech-support.

“We are here to share knowledge and tap on the advantage of what is ruling the world at the moment which is technology,” said Candido.

Abdullahi said that the agency has always been open to collaborations from different sectors and has been involved in several intervention programmmes in rural and urban areas of the country.

He said the agency was doing all it can to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise to take 100 million Nigerians out of poverty was fully achieved through the efforts of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) including the NITDA.

“So far, the agency has embarked on several intervention programmes through empowerment in the six geo political zones of the country, providing training in digital skills and assisting in digital capacity building,” Abdullahi said while adding that the agency has created several ICT centers and hubs, supported ICT startups, and helped to create thousands of jobs for Nigerians.

While assuring AMAC of NITDA’s support, he said: “Collaboration with your council, AMAC, is equal to fulfilling our mandates. Part of the agency’s mandate is to ensure that digital skills and empowerment get to the communities especially the grassroots and the underserved. The visit is good and timely and we can work together to achieve optimum success in those areas.”  

Candido said that his administration was doing all it can to make things different for the people within the AMAC by not just giving fertilizers to farmers but also by bringing new ideas and innovations such as creating ICT centres for communities to learn digital skills.

According to Candido, NITDA’s support in the area of ICT will enable the AMAC community grow in line with modern technology and digital trends.
