This week, Director General, NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, engaged representatives of the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to explore collaboration in capacity building that could impact on thousands of young Nigerians. The USTDA team was led by Josh Kadiri and Kadiri Otaru.

Abdullahi said skill building is a critical element of NITDA’s mandate and has become even more imperative for the country as it embraces digital economy.  According to him NITDA was opened to partnership and gladly welcomes the USTDA as a partner to further strengthen the objectives of the Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan 2017–2020 (ERGP) from a digital economy perspective.

Also the agency, this week, met with the Director General of National Lottery Regulation Commission (NLRC), Lanre Gbajamiabila. The two heads of government agencies agreed that it was expedient to work together to drive the national development agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“After listening to your mandate particularly about data protection and digitization of government services, I believe there is a lot we can do together,” said Gbajamiabila as he commended the agency for its role as the government IT clearinghouse. “Our supervisory ministry’s name has been changed from Ministry of Communications to Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, this has automatically changed our mandate, said Abdullahi as he assured the NLRC’s boss of NITDA’s support in the area of ICT capacity to boost the delivery of its mandate as the regulatory body for all lottery operators.
