Govmail, an innovative email service powered by Galaxy Backbone (GBB), is set to revolutionize communication within the civil service. It will boost efficiency and accelerating the nation’s digital transformation. At a recent meeting where the Govmail Interface was first demonstrated, Mrs. Walson-Jack expressed her enthusiasm. “GBB’s Govmail is unbelievably WOW! This is a game-changer for our nation’s civil service. [It is] streamlining communication and creating a secure path to other government digital services. With Govmail, we are truly embracing the future of digital governance.”
Govmail is designed exclusively for public service professionals. It offers a secure, Nigeria-centric email platform developed by Galaxy Backbone. The platform ensures seamless management of official communications while protecting Nigeria’s data sovereignty. The initiative is a result of the Digitalisation War Room, launched by Mrs. Walson-Jack to implement advanced digital solutions across government agencies.
Govmail is a revolutionary platform
Galaxy Backbone, remarked, “We are immensely proud to have developed this revolutionary platform. Govmail is not just about email—it’s about enabling productivity, efficiency, and data sovereignty in governance. Galaxy Backbone remains committed to advancing Nigeria’s digital public sector.”
Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, emphasized the importance of Govmail, noting that it significantly reduces dependence on foreign email providers, cuts costs, and addresses licensing challenges. He praised the Head of Civil Service and GBB’s leadership for this achievement.
Through Galaxy Backbone’s efforts, Govmail will be rapidly deployed to over 70,000 federal civil servants nationwide, ensuring that government professionals have access to a secure communication platform. This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s strategic goal to harness technology, creating a digitally-driven and globally competitive civil service.
