President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the renewal of the tenure and the reappointment of the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Ms Abimbola Alale, to another four years term in office, effective December 24, 2018. Alale’s reappointment underscores her administrative deftness in leading the publicly owned satellite communication company to newer heights.
A letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the federation,Mr. Boss Mustafa, addressed to the Hon Minister of Communications Technology, Mr. Adebayo Shittu revealed tha tAlale’s appointment is to serve her second term of four years in office.
Alale was first appointed M/D and CEO, NIGCOMSAT Ltd on December 24, 2014. She succeeded the former Managing Director, Mr. Timasaniyu Ahmed-Rufai.
Until her appointment to lead the NIGCOMSAT in 2014, she was the Executive Director, Marketing of the satellite company. She holds a Post Graduate Degree in Space Studies and an MBA from the International Space University, Strasbourg, France. She also obtained a certificate in Technology Innovation and Leadership at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston USA.
To further reinforce her quest for general knowledge, Alale attended a certificate course at the World Financial Public Relations and Marketing Business School at the Management School, London.
Presently, she is concluding a Ph.D. program on Peace, Security and Strategic Studies at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Since joining NIGCOMSAT, she has worked actively on some national priority projects such as NigComSat-1, NigComSat-1R project as Project Director, and the establishment of a National Direct-To-Home Digital Transmission Centre.
With a very robust strength in relationship management, Alale has harnessed the potentials of inter-agency relationship, private sector engagement, satellite operators and other stakeholders in the industry while stabilizing the company as a well focus organization for optimal, profit and customer centric entity.
On the international scene, she holds strategic positions such as a member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AAA) federation, member International Space University Forum, and recently, she was admitted as a board member of Space Generation Advisory Council.
