This decision was finalized during the 9th NADPA Annual General Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, where Nigeria, represented by the NDPC led by the National Commissioner/CEO, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, won the bid to host the event.

Founded in Ouagadougou in September 2016, NADPA-RADPA includes 23 data protection authorities from across Africa. Its mission is to facilitate exchanges and cooperation among its members and to amplify Africa’s voice in global data protection partnerships. Nigeria joined NADPA-RADPA in 2022 and has actively participated since, notably coordinating the Regulatory Harmonization working group during the 2024 AGM.

The 9th NADPA-RADPA Conference and AGM, hosted by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Nairobi, saw over 1,500 participants, including representatives from multinational corporations like Google, Amazon Web Services, EY, and Microsoft, as well as development partners such as the European Union, German Corporation GIZ, and Digital Transformation Centre.

Hosting this prestigious event will enhance Nigeria’s reputation as a centre for innovation, research, and academic excellence, attracting more investments and talent. The conference will also showcase Nigeria’s diverse industries, products, and services to a global audience, said Olatunji.

Additionally, it will support capacity building and skill development in digital technologies, equipping individuals and organizations with essential knowledge and tools for the global digital economy.
