This year’s edition of Nigeria Teen Cyber Festival: ngTeenCyberFest 2023 holds this Thursday, September 28 in Abuja with the main theme of ‘Promoting Young People & the Power of Innovation in a Digital Economy’.
The mainstage event consisting of onsite conference and virtual interaction holds inside Baze University, Abuja. A major highlight of the gathering is the unveiling of the 2023 Nigerian Teen Cyber Awareness Report with a Forward by the National Commissioner/CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji.

“While limited studies have been conducted on data privacy measures amongst adolescents in Nigeria, the C-C PRO research highlights the need for increased awareness, education, and enforcement of data protection laws to protect young people’s sensitive information online,” said the Privacy Ombudsman.
The ngTeenCyberFest 2023 is organised by C-C Pro [Child Cyber Protection], an organisation promoting healthy interaction of young people and technology.
Stakeholders’ support
Event is backed by National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), NDPC, UNICEF, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Baze Univesity and UNICCON Group of Companies among others.
The event is hosting hundreds of students from secondary and higher education centres of learning.During the programme, the young participants are expected to be educated on series of issues all centered on protecting young people in the cyberspace. They include issues of cybersecurity and privacy and themes seeking to also ignite innovations & exchange of ideas among young people; ultimately to foster a healthy online culture.
The ngTeenCyberFest 2023 is a collaborative effort of C-C Pro, nHub, Baobab Think Limited, Instinctwave with the content support of Qitech, Knowhow Media & Market Intelligence International Ltd, and Bionic Concept Limited.
Report delves into diverse digital behaviors
“This 2023 Nigerian Teen Cyber Awareness Report delves into the diverse digital behaviors, preferences, and habits exhibited by young Nigerians ranging from 12-22 years age bracket, shedding light on the virtual landscape they navigate daily,” said Ms.. Delmwa Gogwim, the Team Lead of ngTeenCyberfest2023 and Co- Founder of Child Cyber Protection (C-C Pro).
Adding: “Moreover, it examines whether these young internet users are cognizant of the potential risks to their personal information and data security in the online realm.”

The ngTeenCyberfest2023 “is building on the success of the last edition hosted in Jos, Plateau state with the support of public and private organisations that included Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT), National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), UNESCO, and the Africa Digital Economy Forum (ADEF).
