Less than one week to the GITEX Technology Week in Dubai, Nigeria has signified its desire to leverage the event to market ‘Brand Nigeria’ as it records an improved ‘Ease of Doing Business’ globally and also gears up to showcase its investment potential to the investors community at the 3rd largest tech event in the world.
Nigeria is anchoring its presence this year on a delegation consisting of private an public sector economic actors; two pavilions – the Nigeria Country Pavilion with public and private sector players to share the country’s improved business experience; and the Nigeria Startup Pavilion showcasing a mix of the country’s best of startups.
The Minister of Communications, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, is leading the country’s team of high level speakers at the various industry vertical conferences that take place alongside the five day expo inside the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Pantami joins the GITEX Showdown Debate with Audience Participation focusing on 5G with a probing question for the panelists: Are we at risk of the next cyber-Pearl-Harbor? He will be speaking with others that include: Elisabeth Braw (RUSI (Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies); Jawad Jalal Abbassi (GSMA); and Dritan Kaleshi (Digital Catapult).
Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi will speak at the Vertical Conference on Paving the Road for New Technology in Oil & Gas Exploration. He joins notables like Amr Hujainah (Schlumberger); Dr. Satyam Priyadarshy (Halliburton); and Sak Nayagam (Baker Hughes) to explore the future of that industry driven by emerging technologies.
Nigeria’s famous designer of the globally renowned electric car, the Chevrolet Volt; and Director general of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr. Jelani Aliyu will be at the vertical session on Future Mobility with the interrogation: ‘Is E-Mobility a Potential Threat to the Environment?’He will be speaking alongside Lars Petter Maltby (Eyde Innovation Center, Eyde Cluster); and Dr. Christoph Nedopil Wang.
Also, Africa’s largest economy is co-hosting the GITEX ‘Africa Investment Forum (AIF)’ on the 9th of October 2019 inside the Dubai World Trade Centre. The AIF has a session focusing on why Nigeria is a go-to place for investment; why challenges are increasingly becoming opportunities; and how government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ policy is increasingly improving the economic climate, particularly the ICT sector.
