Nigeria is focusing on driving tech investments and expanding opportunities for its startups  ecosystem at GITEX GLOBAL, the world’s largest, most inclusive tech & startup event holding October 10 to 14, less than six weeks away, inside the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

GITEX GLOBAL unifies the world’s most influential ecosystems advancing business, economy, society and culture through the sheer power of innovation. The 2022 edition unveils new worlds of promise – from the transcendent power of 6G to the vast virtual business ecosystems of the Metaverse – among many tech-powered revolutions and future-forward thinking.

Attracting more than 250,000 people from over 170 countries, GITEX GLOBAL brings together many of the sector’s brightest minds and greatest innovators to discuss the state of the space, showcase new products and identify emerging opportunities.

Nigeria will be joining over 4,000 exhibitors at GITEX GLOBAL 2022 with a Nigerian Country Pavilion and a Startup Pavilion to host a mix of private and public sector ventures including startups.

The global event rallies industry leaders from more than 1,200 private companies, government entities and startups including many of the tech industry’s most successful organizations for the GITEX conference, representing more than 170 countries.

This year, GITEX GLOBAL is hosting hundreds of the most active VCs from over 45 countries. “More than 1,000 prominent speakers will deliver over 280 hours of exclusive content live on stage from the Dubai World Trade Center between Oct. 10 and 14, 2022. The packed GITEX agenda will span every corner of the industry, from cybersecurity, energy and education to healthcare, Web3 and digital cities. It’s the ultimate technology networking event, attended by some of the sector’s most revered luminaries.

The DWTC will be hosting, for the first time, the Africa FAST 100 event with Nigeria featuring strongly with its own uniquely designed agenda focusing on the continent’s leading destination for startup funding.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is managing Nigeria\s participation and has already inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to ensure a successful outing for Nigeria at the event.

Director General of NITDA, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, said that GITEX remains a veritable platform for Nigeria to show to the world what her youths were capable of doing in the area of technological innovations.

“We have made our impacts felt at the event, because the organisers of the event came to Nigeria to head talent hunt. They are sponsoring four of our startups to the event this year,” said the NITDA boss even as he described the event as a strategic window that provides opportunity for exposure to the startup ecosystem, “because it opens opportunities for them to meet investors who are interested in their products.”
