The Nigerian government is seeking the assistance of the Japanese government in the area of science and technology within the scope of modern military operations as part of its efforts to address challenges of insecurity in the country.
Nigerian Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali made the request during a courtesy visit to the Japanese Defence Minister of State, Mr Tomhiro Yamamoto at the Ministry of Defence at Shinjuku-Ku, Tokyo.
Dan-Ali and Yamamoto held discussions on issues that border on improving security with modern technologies. Dan-Ali while highlighting Nigeria’s contributions towards security and peace building within the region of Africa stated that Nigeria under President Buhari remains committed to combating insecurity.
He further expressed optimism that the agreement between the two countries will be beneficial to their respective military operations and security capacities.
Yamamoto praised Nigeria’s leading role and support to security and peace building within the African region. He also stated that the initiation of a defence cooperation between the two countries will serve humanity as it will see the deployment of modern technologies to enhance security.
