The Federal Government, through the 3 Million Technical Talents (3MTT) program, has announced job opportunities for the 30,000 fellows who graduated from the first cohort of the initiative. The program coordinators made the announcement this week, inviting the fellows to start applying for jobs.

While the specific nature of the jobs has not been disclosed, the coordinators assured that the available local and remote job opportunities would be visible to the fellows once they log in to their dashboards.

“We are happy to announce that you can now explore job opportunities on the 3MTT Job Boards! These Job Boards are accessible to fellows who have completed both online courses and ALC training. Sign up today and apply for roles both locally and remotely,” the announcement read.

The 3MTT program, a key component of the Renewed Hope agenda, aims to build Nigeria’s technical talent pool to power the digital economy and position the country as a net talent exporter. The first phase of the program, executed in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), involves multiple stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations.

Two million digital jobs by 2025

An initiative of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, the 3MTT program matches tech talents to careers in partnering companies and aims to generate two million digital jobs by 2025.

According to Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, the goal of the 3MTT program is to create a pipeline of technical talents across Nigeria to close the global workforce gap and help President Tinubu achieve his vision of creating two million digital jobs in his first two years in office. With Nigeria’s unemployment rate projected to hit 40.6%, 3MTT is a step in the right direction.

The program began with 30,000 Nigerians, representing 1% of the 3 million target. The 270,000 fellows selected for the second cohort bring the total to 10% of the target. To achieve the program’s goals, different phases will be executed based on a framework co-created with key stakeholders from government agencies, training providers, educational institutions, development agencies, and the private sector.

Nigerians are being trained in various skills that leverage technology to enhance roles without directly involving tech creation. These skills include Digital Marketing, Project Management Software, Cloud Platforms Navigation, Data Analysis and Visualization, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), CRM Management, Accounting Software, Graphics Design, and UX/UI Design, among others.
