The Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has signed a partnership agreement with Dimension Data, a leading IT solutions provider and internet service company, to utilize its infrastructure backbone. This deal marks a significant milestone for NIGCOMSAT, reflecting growing market confidence from private sector clients after years of stagnation.

Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director and CEO of NIGCOMSAT, stated, “We have successfully completed a pilot scheme with Dimension Data and signed a Master Service Agreement. We are pleased that the Country Director, Gbenga Olabiyi, and his team were satisfied with the results. We have showcased our efforts to reposition NIGCOMSAT, ensuring excellent service delivery, reliable infrastructure, and continuous technological advancement.”
Egerton-Idehen praised the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, for his role in revitalizing the public enterprise with a market-focused approach and initiatives to expand connectivity and promote digital inclusion in Nigeria.
Under the agreement, NIGCOMSAT will provide Dimension Data with internet services on the NigComSat-1R network platform for an initial period of one year, using the Ku dedicated band.
Mr. Olugbenga Olabiyi, Country Director of Dimension Data, highlighted the company’s commitment to creating bespoke IT solutions for its customers and delivering value-driven services. “Through customer engagement and outstanding technology infrastructure, we aim to enhance productivity and business growth,” he stated.
Dimension Data, known for delivering innovative, game-changing technology solutions across Nigeria, the Middle East, and Africa, serves a diverse clientele, including the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Egerton-Idehen expressed optimism about the partnership and assured that NIGCOMSAT would provide excellent services, thanks to its upgraded, cutting-edge technology facilities. “We are now competing effectively in the global satellite market, and while we may have entered the market later, we are here for business and ready to take our rightful position,” she affirmed.
NIGCOMSAT recently inked partnership with Hotspot Network and Infratel Africa to expand connectivity to rural areas.
