The Director General of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, has announced that NECA’s ICT Academy is preparing to train 35 additional trainees in Information and Computer Technology. Speaking in Lagos, Oyerinde emphasized that youth unemployment remains a significant challenge in Nigeria, one that can only be effectively addressed through strategic youth empowerment initiatives that balance labor supply and demand.

In collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund and various participating organizations, NECA established the ICT Academy to tackle these challenges head-on. Since its inception, the academy has provided free, intensive ICT training to approximately 200 youths, offering courses in digital marketing, graphic design, and essential soft skills such as work ethics and communication.

“This program is designed to equip young Nigerians with the critical skills necessary for self-employment and wealth creation, while also offering globally recognized certifications in computer and internet proficiency,” Oyerinde stated.

He encouraged the new trainees to seize this opportunity to enhance their employability and contribute to the nation’s economic growth. In addition to free tuition, the academy will also provide lunch and a stipend to the 35 new trainees.
