The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has announced its decision to partner with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) in the 2020 edition of its annual national media conference on space science and technology with the theme “Harnessing Space Science and Technology for Good Governance and Elimination Of Corruption.”

In a press statement signed by the Head Media and Corporate Communications of the Space Agency, Dr Felix Ale, the choice of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) for the partnership is in recognition and appreciation of its success story as a reference point in the power sector, particularly its record of achievements under the leadership of its current management.

 The Space Agency noted in particular the laudable efforts of NDPHC in the area of power delivery as well as its numerous on-going projects and efforts to add new capacity to the nation’s electricity supply system for improved electricity for the overall benefits of consumers throughout the country.

The national conference which is expected to feature a special presentation by NDPHC on a paper entitled “Deterring corruption and improving governance in the electricity sector in Nigeria: NDPHC in focus” is meant to give a detailed account of the company’s projects and provide insights into the new sense of direction and development in the power sector which has over the years believed to have been bedeviled by maladministration and corruption.

It is believed that even though there are still more to achieve in the power sector, the Niger Delta Power Holding Company is reputed to have recorded unprecedented achievements that are capable of changing the narration in the power sector in no distance time as the various projects executed thus far by the company since the advent of the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari have been very remarkable and commendable.

The conference which is scheduled to hold between 28th and 30th June 2020 in Abuja is also expected to feature technical presentations of various research works from experts, academia and research institutions and allow for exhaustive discussions among delegates, participants and relevant stakeholders in the science and technology sector.

The National Space Research and Development Agency as a research institution is focusing and highlighting achievements as well as generating discourse in some critical areas of national interest and development in fulfillment of part of its mandates and demonstration of its strategic support in the ongoing efforts of the present administration to improve the quality of life of the people as well as to tackle the problem of corruption which has over the years eaten deep into the fabric of our society.
