The NASCO Group, a leading Nigerian consumer goods manufacturer, has  rewarded top-performing students in the TeenTech Safe Marketer Challenge. This is an initiative under the TeenTech Nigeria Mentorship Programme by the Child Protection Initiative Against Cyber Crime (C-C Pro). NASCO described the initiative as a bold step to promote digital literacy and cyber safety among young Nigerians.

Held in March in Jos, Plateau State, the challenge followed an intensive digital marketing training session facilitated by NASCO for secondary school students. Participants were tasked with applying their newly acquired digital marketing skills in real-world scenarios. The most innovative teams were awarded prizes in recognition of their creativity and potential.

Nawal Nasreddin, NASCO’s Digital & Creative Project Coordinator, praised the students for their outstanding digital marketing ideas.

“This initiative is part of NASCO’s commitment to fostering creativity and digital excellence in Nigeria’s youth,” she stated.

Umaru Ahmed-Rufai, NASCO’s Project Admin for Digital and Creative Projects, noted the impressive level of talent displayed:

“The students did incredibly well. This recognition by NASCO is our way of celebrating their efforts.”

Delmwa Gogwim, CEO and Co-founder of C-C Pro, lauded NASCO for its strategic partnership and support.

“The experience is a perfect showcase of what TeenTech Nigeria aims to deliver—real impact, mentorship, and inspiration for a digitally aware generation,” she said.

One of the excited beneficiaries, Awazi Agum, expressed her gratitude.

“I never imagined NASCO would select our team’s idea. This has motivated me to pursue more opportunities in the digital space and develop new skills,” she said.

The TeenTech Nigeria Mentorship Programme also featured a line-up of high-profile speakers, including:

  • Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, Commissioner for Science and Innovation, Plateau State;
  • Mr. Sam Luka, Founder, Zang Global Limited;
  • Mr. Datong Dominic Gwaman, DG, Plateau Information Technology Development Agency (PICTDA);
  • Mr. Evelyne Lewis, CEO, SBTS Group LLC.

The program emphasized cyber safety, ethical technology use, and digital innovation, urging students to verify online information, stay safe, and use the internet responsibly. The 2024 edition held in Abuja, while this year’s was hosted in Jos.

With growing threats of cybercrime and misinformation, the TeenTech Safe Marketer Challenge represents a powerful model for early digital education and youth empowerment in Nigeria.
