Amidst Multichoice’s recent price increase, Metro Digital SLTV experiences a significant surge in subscriptions, witnessing a remarkable 30% uptick in less than nine days, signaling a notable shift in consumer preferences.
Multichoice, the broadcasting giant, recently announced a price hike across its DSTv and GOTv packages, exceeding 30% just four months after its previous increment. This move has left many customers disgruntled, prompting them to seek alternatives to Multichoice’s services.
Effective May 1, 2024, Multichoice’s DStv Premium package will see a jump from N29,500 to N37,000, while its Gotv Supa+ package will rise from N12,500 to N15,700. Faced with Nigeria’s rampant inflation and currency instability, Multichoice justifies the price hike.
In contrast, Metro Digital SLTV emerges as a compelling alternative, offering monthly subscriptions ranging from N5,000 to N2,500. Boasting over 50 HD channels, including 10 sports channels broadcasting live matches from top football leagues like the Premier League, Champions League, Laliga, Seria A, and UEL, SLTV provides an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers.
While affordability drives subscriptions for SLTV and other digital PayTV operators, Multichoice anticipates retaining a significant portion of its current subscribers due to its premium picture quality.
