MTN Group has announced significant leadership appointments, with Mohammed Rufai named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Congo-Brazzaville effective September 1, 2024, and Ayham Moussa appointed as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of MTN Nigeria, starting August 19, 2024.

The announcement also includes the voluntary early retirement of MTN Côte d’Ivoire CEO Djibril Ouattara and the departure of MTN Nigeria COO Hassan Jabber.

Mohammed Rufai, a seasoned professional with over 24 years of experience in the ICT sector, joined MTN Nigeria in 2002 and has held various senior roles across the MTN Group. Currently serving as the Chief Technical Officer at MTN Nigeria, Rufai brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to his new role in Congo-Brazzaville. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science and has advanced management certifications from prestigious institutions, including Lagos Business School, Cranfield University, and the University of Cambridge.

Ayham Moussa, who will take over as COO of MTN Nigeria, has a long history with MTN, having joined the company in 2002. He has served in various markets, including Syria and Guinea-Conakry, and most recently as CEO of MTN Congo-Brazzaville. Moussa has been instrumental in advancing digital technology from 2G to 4G in Congo-Brazzaville and has been recognized for his leadership in establishing MTN Congo as a technology leader.

MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita expressed gratitude to Djibril Ouattara and Hassan Jabber for their significant contributions over the years. He congratulated Ayham Moussa and Mohammed Rufai on their new roles, wishing them success as they take on their respective positions.
