The Mobile Ecosystem Forum is this year (2025) celebrating its 25th anniversary. With celebrations taking place throughout the year, at many of the MEF events being held across the globe, it promises to be MEF’s best year yet.

25-year History – the book
To celebrate this important anniversary MEF is publishing a book charting its history from humble beginnings in 2000 to the global membership body it is today. MEF was originally started by the pioneers of the mobile entertainment space (think ringtones!) who envisioned an organisation that could bring together previously discrete stakeholders – record labels, film studios, mobile networks, developers and even governments. In the 25 years since it started the mobile ecosystem has grown beyond all imagining, and so has MEF.
Mobile World Congress, Barcelona
MEF will once again be taking part in Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the start of March. On Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd MEF will be hosting the Global Forum at the iconic Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona.
This premier two-day event brings together the world’s top industry leaders and visionaries for unparalleled discussions, insights, and networking opportunities.
On Monday evening, it’s time to party as the 20th annual Meffys Awards gets underway. As MEF marks two decades of groundbreaking progress, this year’s Meffys will reflect on the key milestones and achievements that have shaped the mobile industry, all while looking forward to the innovations driving the future.
It will be an evening of glitz, glamour, and nostalgia, complete with décor and music that take you back in time. Discover the winners across 10 new categories live on the night.
MEF: Future of Mobile summit
On Tuesday 4th in the afternoon MEF will be at the FIRA hosting the hugely popular Future of Mobile summit in the exclusive 150-seat Theatre 6, in Hall 8.
This year, the conference takes an in-depth look at the transformative impact of emerging technologies across the industry. From TikTok’s journey in building the future of mobile technologies, to the next generation of anti-fraud measures – from how to turn compliance headaches into competitive wins, to the future of customer engagement through RCS and other emerging channels. The event will close with “Cava & Connections” – a relaxed networking wrap-up sponsored by Sinch.
