In celebration of Earth Day 2025, LG Electronics has partnered with Nigeria’s leading e-waste management company, Hinckley Recycling to launch a nationwide E-Waste Collection Drive. The initiative, themed “Recycle Today, Restore Tomorrow,” reflects this year’s Earth Day global focus: “Our Power, Our Planet.”

The campaign aims to encourage Nigerians to return old, damaged, or unused electronics for responsible recycling., This will help reduce the environmental and health hazards associated with improper e-waste disposal.
“As part of our global commitment to sustainability, we’re making it easier for Nigerians to responsibly recycle their electronics,” said Paul Mba, Corporate Marketing Manager at LG Electronics Nigeria.
“Through this collaboration with Hinckley Recycling, we are empowering individuals to contribute directly to climate solutions and environmental protection.”
Tackling Nigeria’s E-Waste Challenge
Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally, and Nigeria is no exception. From televisions to mobile phones, millions of devices reach end-of-life each year. Without proper disposal, e-waste can leak toxic materials into the air, water, and soil. All of these pose serious risks to both people and the planet.
By working with Hinckley Recycling, LG ensures that all returned products are processed using internationally certified, environmentally safe recycling methods.
“Our shared vision with LG is clear: a cleaner, greener Nigeria,” said Adrian Clews, Managing Director of Hinckley Group.
“This Earth Day initiative goes beyond waste collection—it’s about inspiring communities and building a culture of sustainability.”
Community-Driven Environmental Action
Designated e-waste collection centers were set up across Lagos, allowing easy drop-off of unused electronics. They include refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, washing machines, air conditioners, and phones. The drive saw enthusiastic participation from households and businesses, turning waste into opportunity by contributing to a circular economy.
“This initiative is exactly the kind of corporate action that resonates with young people,” said Bharat Kumar Kundra, Youth Champion at UNICEF.
“Nigeria’s youth, with their digital fluency and energy, are uniquely positioned to transform this e-waste initiative into a national movement for environmental change.”
A Corporate Blueprint for Sustainability
Through this Earth Day initiative, LG has reinforced its role as a leader in corporate environmental responsibility. The company maintains focus on sustainability, circular economy practices, and community education. This highlights how innovation and restoration can go hand-in-hand.
“This is not just about recycling electronics—it’s about restoring the environment and redefining the role of technology in climate action,” added Mba.
As Earth Day 2025 reminds us, the power to protect the planet is in our hands—and LG is showing the world how every recycled device can be a step toward a better tomorrow.
