The second day of GITEX Global 2024 is spotlighting Nigeria’s presence. Lagos State Pavilion and NipeX (Nigerian Petroleum Exchange) are showcasing the country’s tech innovations and digital potential. This 44th edition of the event had Lagos State Pavilion featuring over 10 IT enterprises. The state is also highlighting emerging startups, underscoring the its role as a leading tech hub.

The event opened October 14 at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC). GITEX GLOBAL 2024 main theme is “Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy.” This year’s edition emphasises the critical role of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Key highlights include the launch of awareness and sponsorship campaigns for GITEX Nigeria 2025. Lagos is host city for the event slated to take place from September 1-4.
NipeX showcasing homegrown solutions transforming oil and gas industry
NipeX, a division of NUIMS under NNPC Ltd., is showcasing its homegrown solutions that are transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. The electronic contracting platform is designed to optimise procurement processes, increase efficiency, and promote transparency. By linking buyers and suppliers with standardised industry practices, NipeX aims to streamline supply chain activities and reduce costs in the upstream oil sector.
According to the NipeX team at GITEX, the platform aspires to be a globally competitive e-procurement hub that meets international transparency standards. It is enhancing the commercial space of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Expand North Star
Nigeria’s presence at GITEX Global is further bolstered by the Expand North Star showcase. This is running concurrently from October 13-16 at Dubai Harbour. This theme-highlight is organized by DWTC and the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. Expand North Star has become the world’s largest startup and investment show, accelerating the development of AI-driven technologies.
“We are committed to strategically propelling the next generation of AI-driven technologies via startups, scale-ups, and unicorns,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of DWTC.
GITEX Global 2024 is not only a platform for showcasing the latest advancements in AI. It also sets the stage for GITEX Nigeria 2025. The event aims to solidify Nigeria’s position in the global tech landscape. It is designed to mark a significant step toward bridging the gap between technology and industry in Africa.
