Globacom, Africa’s fastest growing telecommunications company, has announced plans to replace its legacy charging platform with Ericsson’s Charging System, so as to give their over 20 million subscribers access to new products and services.
The charging system will allow Globacom to have flexible pricing and discounting plans, and offer rich features to its pre-paid subscribers, such as benefits from loyalty programs.
Paddy Adenuga, Executive Vice Chairman at Globacom, says: “We are committed to innovation and developing new service propositions to meet increasing customer expectations of a better experience. Ericsson’s solution will help us rapidly deploy new products and services, and our subscribers will get more value for their money through better control of costs, bonuses and discounts.”
The Nigerian mobile communications market is intensely competitive and user needs are rapidly evolving, expectations continue growing, and the market continues to mature. With this, there is ever increasing pressure on service providers to be more customer-centric and deliver greater value for money.
Besides its charging system, Ericsson will provide a range of professional services such as migration and system integration services, software maintenance and support for the duration of the ten-year contract.
According to Lars Lindén, Head of Ericsson sub-Saharan Africa, “This contract marks the beginning of a new partnership between Ericsson and Globacom, we are committed to supporting Globacom’s initiatives to deliver a wide range of new, differentiated services to its Nigerian customers and are confident that our technology leadership and global experience will contribute to this.”
With over 160 commercial deployments serving more than 1.1 billion prepaid subscribers around the world, Ericsson’s innovative Charging System solution provides a flexible, feature rich and robust platform”
