The Ministry of Interior oversees the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Civil Defence, Immigration, Prisons, Fire Service Board (CDFIPB). It plays a crucial role in maintaining internal security and citizenship integrity. The collaboration with DBI aims to bolster the Ministry’s operational efficiency through digital skills development.

Training will enhance Interior Ministry’s operations

David highlighted the importance of equipping Nigeria’s workforce with essential digital tools for fostering innovation and national growth. He emphasised that DBI, through its campuses across six geopolitical zones (Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Asaba, Yola, and Enugu), provides cutting-edge ICT training. One of the institute’s key initiatives is the Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI). Funded by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), ADEPTI has already trained over 120,000 tertiary staff.

The meeting focused on specialised digital training for the Ministry of Interior’s personnel. This unique training will ensure they are well-prepared to enhance the Ministry’s operations. Minister Tunji-Ojo expressed full support for the initiative. He noted that it aligns with the government’s priority of enhancing digital literacy within public institutions. According to him, this is critical for improving governance, national security, and public service delivery.

“This partnership is a step toward fulfilling President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in digital transformation and human capital development,” said Tunji-Ojo. He also commended David for his commitment to advancing digital literacy and his leadership in shaping the nation’s digital transformation efforts.
