Vice Chairman/CEO, 21st Century Technologies limited (21CTL), Wale Ajisebutu, wants the House of Representatives to initiate a friendlier legal environment that would help accelerate the deployment of cost effective infrastructure so as to increase Nigerians access to ICT.
With more than 200 million people, most Nigerians still lack access to telecom infrastructures.
While on a recent visit to the new Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, in Abuja, Ajisebutu urged the new speaker to help draw attention of the House to how robust supportive laws are required to ensure that ICT becomes an enabler for sustainable development.
“ I have no doubt in your ability to lead, your election is a testament to your faith, leadership qualities but also the strength of your character, and relations capacity, I pray God to guide you,” said Ajisebutu as he congratulated the new Speaker of the House.
Gbajabiamila assured that his leadership would support the ICT sector.
Since 1999, 21CTL has grown to be a major infrastructure services provider in Nigeria. The Lagos based company is a converged multi-service provider with portfolio of services that include telecommunications; ICT training, software and online marketplace among others. 21CTL was registered in 1997 and began operations in 1999.
Ajisebutu is a chartered accountant by profession, but his company has grown to lead Nigeria’s infrastructure market with heavy presence in Lagos, the country’s commercial capital of over 18 million people. He has also championed the establishment of one of Nigeria’s largest technology hubs.
In Abuja, he tasked Gbajabiamila to make the House of Representatives a development partner of the ICT sector as Africa’s largest economy can only improve its GDP if government commits the required fiscal and legal thrusts on it.
