Greed Dating, a leading niche dating platform, has implemented advanced AI-driven moderation features to enhance user safety and comply with the forthcoming UK Online Safety Bill. Founder David Minns spearheaded the integration of nudity detection within the app, utilising free software libraries and OpenAI’s ChatGPT for guidance.

The newly introduced system addresses two critical areas:
Profile Image Uploads:
Images containing nudity are automatically flagged and blocked, ensuring adherence to content standards.
Live Chat Functionality:
Explicit images shared during live chats are blurred, protecting recipients from unsolicited content.
“As a developer and business owner, my primary responsibility is to create a platform where users feel secure,” said Minns. “The integration of AI for moderating explicit content aligns with both ethical obligations and upcoming legal requirements.”
The system was developed using a combination of PHP and Python, leveraging free, open-source libraries for image analysis. ChatGPT played a pivotal role in optimising the implementation process, enabling a swift deployment within hours.
This proactive approach not only enhances user trust but also positions Greed Dating ahead of regulatory changes, demonstrating a commitment to adhering to the UK Online Safety Bill.
Building on this success, Minns plans to introduce additional safety features, including age detection for profile images and the development of “scammer faceprints” to identify and block fraudulent accounts.
