In March 2024, when parts of West and Southern Africa faced internet disruptions due to a submarine cable cut by another provider, Glo 1 continued to function seamlessly. This allowed its clients, including financial institutions, ISPs, and data users, to maintain normal operations. Experts attribute Glo 1’s resilience to its robust design and durability.

Globacom has also upgraded the Glo 1 infrastructure to enhance service delivery and ensure optimal utilization. Known for offering the fastest and most reliable direct connection to London with the lowest latency, Glo 1 guarantees high-speed internet access, providing a unique experience for calling and surfing on the Glo network.

Glo 1 caters to a diverse clientele, including manufacturers, oil and gas companies, government agencies, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities. Globacom stated that the cable facilitates a range of essential services, such as teleconferencing, distance learning, disaster recovery, and telemedicine, benefiting the African continent.

Globacom owns the entire Glo 1 end-to-end infrastructure, which includes access systems, a national fiber-optic backbone, international gateways, cable networks, and data center services. This comprehensive ownership allows the company to offer last-mile and domestic long-haul services to its clients, leveraging its global presence and extensive fiber optic networks.
