Following the inaugural GITEX Africa in 2023, this year’s event highlighted the continent’s growing startup ecosystem, with over 500 African startups participating. The event demonstrated the continent’s steady integration into the global tech economy.

Trixie LohMirmand, President of Kaoun International, a subsidiary of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), which organized the exhibition, stated that the second edition of GITEX Africa met all its objectives. “This event fulfilled all its objectives, judging by the large number of participants, the quality of exchanges, the range of agreements signed, and the commitments shown in terms of networking, collaboration, and partnership,” Ms. LohMirmand said at the closing of the event.

Startups had numerous opportunities to engage with investors, with 400 investors attending, 70% of whom were from abroad. This significant international participation underscored the growing interest in Morocco’s tech ecosystem. The event facilitated the signing of several partnership agreements and memorandums of understanding between Moroccan and international companies.

A key focus of this year’s GITEX Africa was the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving development across the continent. “AI will be a very important technological transformative power in Africa, given the talent that comes from Africa, particularly Morocco,” Ms. LohMirmand noted. The event featured numerous global experts who provided insights into the future of the AI economy.
