The final selection of four winners in Abuja for the GITEX 2023 North Star Pitch Competition holds in Abuja on Tuesday May 2, 2023.
Organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) owners of GITEX GLOBAL, the event is designed to discover top of the rank African startups so as to expose them to global investors, mentors and partners.
The Abuja event begins the signing off of the 2023 edition of the DWTC GITEX Africa Startup Roadshow. The DWTC opened application portal weeks back for African startups to participate at the GITEX 2023 North Star Pitch Competition..
About 30 startups narrowed from nearly 200 applications will be accessed at Pitch Day in Abuja by carefully appointed judges who make up the jury for what is now one of Nigeria’s most competitive startup pitch events.
The jury will select four best of the breed Nigerian startups who applied through the Abuja zone to enjoy full sponsorship to GITEX AFRICA holding in Marrakech, Morocco 31 May – 2 June 2023 and North Star, GITEX GLOBAL holding in Dubai, UAE October 16-20, 2023. Final Pitch Day for pre-selected startups for the Lagos Zone is holding 12th May, 2023. Four winners will also be sponsored from the Lagos zone holding in Eko Innovation Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Next week in Abuja the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), a partner of the DWTC will be hosting the Abuja edition of event where the Director General, NITDA, Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi is expected to make the opening remark.

The DWTC, UAE will be making the keynote presentation on GITEX: A Gateway to Limitless Opportunities while the Head of Programs at The Ventures Park, Ajibike Jimoh, is making presentation as a guest speaker.
Akande Ojo, president, Pinnacle Global Business Services Limited, an investment advisory & event management company and the sole representative, Nigeria and West Africa for the DWTC is to make the welcome address at the event where about attendees are expected.
“This is an African-focused event. The DWTC is partnering with the Nigerian government through the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, NITDA; and other local partners including Lagos State government, Art of Technology, and Pinnacle for the Nigeria’s end of the initiative,” said Ojo to IT Edge News in Lagos.
