The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has delisted 37 additional illegal digital money lending (DML) apps as government continues its clean up of a sub-sector widely regarded as invested with unlawful operators.

The number of fully approved loan apps has also increased to 164 from 154.
According to the FCCPC, the number of loan apps with conditional approval declined to 38 from 40. There are now 56 apps on its watch list indicating a significant jump from the initial 20.

The Nigerian government announced plans for aggressive nationwide clampdown on unapproved or unregistered loan apps in July and has since them delisted a number of illegal loan apps.
