The continued growth of the Ethereum network has resulted in the cryptocurrency recording milestones that have elevated it to the helm of the digital currency sector. One of the areas Ethreum is witnessing growth is in the number of unique addresses registered on the network.
According to data compiled by Finbold, Ethereum added 5.37 million new unique addresses in the last 30 days (June 6th, 2021 – July 6th, 2021). Therefore, on average, the Ethereum network added 173,235 new unique addresses daily. The total number of distinct Ethereum addresses has now grown to 162,231,196.
Ethereum on the rise
The milestone in Ethereum’s unique addresses addition comes in the wake of the network experiencing mass growth including real world utilization and competing with number one ranked digital currency Bitcoin. According to the research report:
“Recently, Ethereum overtook Bitcoin in total daily active addresses for the first time in crypto history, suggesting that demand for the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency is rising. It might signal that the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization is on its path to becoming the most popular.”
The Ethereum growth is backed by endorsement from some of the leading global financial institutions. Recently, U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs said it considers the Ethereum blockchain to have the capability to usurp Bitcoin as the main store of value cryptocurrency.
Additionally, the scheduled and exciting network upgrades are likely to elevate Ethereum further in the cryptocurrency sector.
