About 140 farmers in Ekiti state have completed a smart agriculture empowerment scheme under the National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture (NAVSA) promoted by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
The south west state is piloting the scheme in the southern region of the country. The NAVSA programme was first launched in Jigawa state earlier this year to systematically adopt farmers across the 774 local government areas in the country in order to equip them with necessary digital skills that will make the country one of the leading nations for smart agriculture.
Designed as part of the Digital Nigeria agenda to transform the agriculture sector by exposing farmers in Ekiti to digital tools that could boost their annual yields, the programme was carried out in collaboration with the Ekiti state government.
