NID is a vocational and competency-based education programme approved by the Federal Ministry of Education. It is also accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
This two-year programme is designed to provide specialized technical knowledge. It is equivalent to the National Diploma (ND) in Polytechnics, Monotechnic and other tertiary institutions. Unlike traditional national diploma programmes, NID programmes have 70% practical and 30% concepts and theory. Thus, it prepares students to have the practical skills required by the industry before graduation.
NID programme is shift from theory to practical industry skills reflects
Mr. Daser David, President/CEO of DBI, emphasized the importance of skill-based education in Nigeria’s digital transformation. He said the NID programme is a drastic shift from the theory and concept-based system in most tertiary Institutions. The DBI-NID focuses on the application of practical and implementable skills that reflects industry needs and requirements. David said NID aligns with DBI’s vision to develop a highly skilled ICT workforce capable of driving national growth.
Prospective students, as in previous batches, would benefit from DBI-rich local and industry affiliations, dynamic faculties selected from academia and industry, and the availability of modern learning tools, equipment, and devices.
The DBI NID programme is also mapped to the Nigeria Skills Qualification Framework, thus ensuring that Knowledge and skills that would be acquired by students of the DBI NID programme develop competencies that are valid and verifiable locally and internationally.
