The announcement was made by Mr. David Daser, President/CEO of DBI, in a statement by Akin Ogunlade, DBI’s spokesperson.
The Enugu Campus is set to serve as a hub for digital capacity building. It will be kicking off trainings for 2,000 beneficiaries, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. The initiative is part of a broader national effort to equip Nigerian youths with in-demand technical skills and reduce unemployment through digital empowerment.
“The Enugu Campus is strategically designed to provide high-quality ICT and telecom training, ensuring that young Nigerians and professionals in the region gain the requisite skills to thrive in the digital economy,” said Mr. Daser.
Supporting the 3MTT Vision with Practical, Industry-Relevant Training
The DBI’s Enugu operations are a major boost to the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. One of the flagship programs of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, 3MTT aimed at creating a robust pool of local digital experts to power Nigeria’s growing tech sector.
According to Daser, the Enugu Campus will offer a wide range of industry-aligned technical training programs, including the National Innovation Diploma (NID). This is a skills-driven curriculum tailored to produce competent graduates ready to meet the demands of the modern ICT landscape.
“This milestone reflects DBI’s deep commitment to bridging the digital divide, empowering Nigerian youth with relevant digital competencies, and positioning the Southeast as a hub for technological innovation and economic growth,” he added.
Expanding Reach, Forging Partnerships for Impact
DBI’s nationwide expansion plan is being realized through increased collaboration with both local and international partners. This is in addition to ongoing engagement with key industry stakeholders. The Enugu Campus will serve as a regional anchor for future innovations and talent development. All of these fostered on a strong focus on job placements and entrepreneurship support.
Daser also called on Southeast governors, the South East Development Commission (SEDC), industrialists, and private sector players to partner with DBI in advancing the digital economy in the region.
“The Federal Government cannot do it alone. The South East, with its vibrant population and entrepreneurial spirit, has a central role to play in making Nigeria the digital hub of Africa,” he noted.
