Expressing confidence in David’s leadership, Ibrahim stated, “Your appointment reflects your dedication, expertise, and performance as CEO. I am certain you will excel in this role, enhancing collaboration with local and global stakeholders.”

Dr. Agu Collins Agu, Chief Digital Architect of the Technology Development for Poverty Alleviation Initiative (TD4PAI IoT Hub), also congratulated David. He stressed TD4PAI’s commitment to partnering with DBI. This would be necessary to drive digital skills and technological advancement across Nigeria. “Your strategic leadership in digital transformation has been evident throughout your career. We are confident you will continue to deliver exceptional results,” said Agu.

Agu is the creator of Nigeria’s Unity Board, an AI/IoT STEAM Education Kit. The former director at NITDA  also highlighted the importance of collaboration with DBI to build workforce capabilities in emerging technologies.

These sentiments align with the recent commitment by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) to work closely with DBI’s new leadership. This partnership aims to further propel growth in Nigeria’s ICT sector, which accounts for 82% of Africa’s telecom subscribers and 29% of internet usage. With the rollout of 5G services and the government’s digital transformation agenda, Nigeria’s ICT sector is positioned for significant growth. ICT contributed 19.78% to Nigeria’s real GDP in Q2 2024.
